Sept 8, 2015: SOW and 5 Themes of Geography

Happy Tuesday! What a way to start the week! All this rain had most of us feeling a little tired this morning....but we still got a ton done in class.

We started out with DEAR time.  Remember, if you don't have a DEAR book, you can stop into the Hub and check one out!  After DEAR we started Sentence of the Week (SOW).  At the beginning of the week, I will post new sentences.  The sentences will demonstrate a rule of grammar and/or punctuation that we will focus on for the week.  The homework will then be to create three new sentences demonstrating the rule.

Here is a link to this weeks sentence of the week.  So create three new sentences tonight that begin with capital letters and end with punctuation!

In 1st and 2nd hour we then started our 5 Themes of Geography unit, where we learned that the fives themes are

  1. Location
  2. Region
  3. Place
  4. Movement
  5. Human-Environment Interaction
We focused on location and learned that it means, "Where is it?".  When geographers look at location they use cardinal directions (North, South, East, and West), and latitude and longitude.  We will spend more time talking about this tomorrow, and 5th and 6th hour we will start on this tomorrow!

Don't forget if you have current events this week to send me your template as soon as you can!
